they have done the same thing i the past to dobermans and german shepards. we have 4 dogs in the house with 6 cats they lay next to each other. 2 are bordercollie/lab mixes and 2 are suppose to be pit bull mixes. DOGS in general are protective over their owners. this make ssome see them as mean.I had a neighbor once who had a herding dog. the kids would surround the house and tease. when he was tied they would ride their bikes as close as possible teasing and kicking at him until one day they fell and he lit into them- IMO they deserved it. the elderly was told to put him tosleep it about broke her heart as it did mine.99% of dogs do NOT attacked unprovoked. it is humans that cause aggression.
