Banning of Pit Bulls on Military Bases

March 1, 2009 | By Jamie W. | 7 comments

A large military base in upstate NY (Fort Drum) has just banned pit bulls (and a few other select breeds) from the base. Any soldiers or military families who already had pit bulls were forced to get rid of them. Pit bulls are filling up our local shelters now. It's truly heartbreaking. Is this common practice on bases across the country? Does anyone know?
