Abused pitbull needs loving home

April 1, 2009 | By Becky F. | 5 comments

learning to love and trust

Three weeks this beautiful gal was brought in to the shelter and had obviously suffered some abuse as she was fear aggressive. She finally has let me start working with her and is now trusting most everyone but is still leery of some men. She is warming quickly and loves attention and to play. The shelter is getting overcrowded and I hate to see her not find a home after all she has been through. Please see my other journal entries and you may see her on the www.garrettanimalshelter.net and her name is Jewel.

Liberty Humane Society, located in Jersey City, NJ, is often the last resource for many pit bulls from the area. Many shelters do not accept the breed. We love them! They are wonderful dogs...yes, they are strong and need a lot of training and exercise, but they just don't get much more loving! I have 2 at home presently. Before I came to Liberty Humane Society, I had the same impression as many people did....you can't trust a pit bull. Wow, was I ever wrong.

Anyway, if any of you out there are looking for a shelter to support in the Zootoo contest, please take a look at Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City, NJ. Watch our video about some of the unique problems we face being an inner-city shelter. I
