Hello,
i have a 3 year old Lab and we walk everyday
for about 30 minutes and on Saturdays i take him to dog park for about 1 hour. The vet had
advised to feed him Science Diet and i did for months but i did not really see much improvement. Now i feed him Purina Weight
Management and i mix it with Purina wet food
this is his everyday breakfast. And for dinner i just feed him his dry purina food which most of the time he only eats once a day. He is very energetic and loves to run but i can not get him
to dropp any pounds. Any advice on a good DIET food that is acually good besides excersise?

You didn't say how much of the dry food you feed. Purina is a good food and all labs will tell you they are starving to death no matter how much they eat. My friends with over weight pugs feed the green beans and have had great results.

My yellow lab, Bailey, is also a big boy at 125. He is also big boned (really) for a lab. What I have tried with him is the green bean diet. He still gets dry food, Eagle Pack Senior instead of Eagle Pack Weight Mgt., because he is 8 and he needs the glucosamine for his awful joints. I used canned beans and substitute 1/2 can to 3/4 cup food. He is big and the vet said that to get him under 100 would be impossible. This helps him maintain and he has not gained weight. He loves the beans too...and no it doesn't give him gas! Oh yeah, and he loves veggies and fruit. Instead of bones he gets carrots, apples, tomatoes but only a limited amount because of the sugar. ( He'd eat all of the food in the kitchen if he could!) I really have to watch him. He also is outside daily running around but I have to limit him because his joints are in pretty bad shape - a birth thing. Good luck; it's not an easy job!
