Goldfish and bowls, not good.

April 7, 2008 | By Keith | 3 comments

It makes me very sad seeing so many pet goldfish stuck in fishbowls. One goldfish by itself needs at least 20 gallons with a filter, and since they can easily reach over 10 inches when fully mature, they'll need at least 40-50 gallons, depending on the larger species such as the common goldfish which you see so large in ponds. All animals deserve to be cared for, so please if you have a goldfish living in a bowl or very small tank, please get it a larger aquarium! And the common myth goldfish can survive only on fish flakes is also wrong, they will gladly eat live food such as blackworms and sinking algae wafers, along with frozen bloodworms.
Since nobody posted here I figured i'd be the icebreaker and get some conversations started. :)

well... I don't mean to be rude, but ny goldfish seems very happy in his 5 gallon tank and a 20 gallon can easily way upto 300 pounds. Maybe more! But I must agree with you, goldfish and bowls don't mix.
