Puppy Agression

Hello Goup!
I have an adorable 12 week old golden puppy. We have had him for a month or so. Last night he was chewing on a spot in the yard and would not come when called or otherwise allow me to distract him. I bent down to pick him up and he turned very agressive, growling and biting me several times. I finally coralled him into the house where he growled at my daugther and wife. Has anyone experienced very agressive behavior in golden puppies? We are taking him to puppy class this weekend but I am concerned something else is wrong.Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. We start puppy class tomorrow, and I contacted my vet. They thought he might be sick, so I took in a stool sample. I am used to the usual growling and puppy play, and have had a few dogs over the years. What concerns me is the degree of agressiveness we have been experiencing. I will see what our trainer says and hopefully we can train it out of him. I am just concerned about being around others as he gets older.
