Shamelessly promoting CMHS

Please vote for CMHS

In a few short days everyone will be voting for one of the Top 10 shelters so I just wanted to say a few words about Central Missouri Humane Society. They have been in business since 1943 and serve over 53 counties in the mid-Missouri area, while only getting any real support from the county in which they reside. They take in a phenomenal amount of animals every week, and try to house them in a very small building badly in need of repair. They are an open door shelter, the next closest is 2 hours away in either direction. I have yet to see them "not busy" with people in trying to adopt, and I think successful adoptions would increase greatly in number if they were able to add the space and staff to serve the people and animals more efficiently. We got our dog, Dolci, from them 4 years ago and are currently in the running to adopt a puppy to add to our mix. Dolci is one of the best dogs I have ever owned and he inspires me to impulsively send CMHS donations just because we are so thankful that they were there to care for him in the interim until we "found" him. I adore dogs and would take all of the needy ones home if I were able, but that's obviously not possible, so it's good that CMHS is here for our communities so that as many of them get homes as is possible. In order to keep going, they have had to cut out days of operation and shorten hours on the days they are open. If it weren't for the devoted volunteers, I don't know if they would be able to stay open at all. We would sure appreciate any additonal support in this contest. Thanks for listening.
