My primary concern is not your picture frames but your birds' health. Wooden picture frames are stained and varnished with toxic chemicals! If you are going to have your birds out of their cages unsupervised, simply move the frames to where they can't reach them.

Barb, if possible I would either move the pictures or the cage just far enough to where your 'tiels can't reach the picutre frames. As I'm sure you already know, they are very clever little birds and are quite persistant sometimes in going after certain objects. Mine sure is and so I make the necessary adjustments to his environment. Mojo stays out of his cage during the day when I'm home to supervise him, but when I go somewhere or at night, he goes in his cage. Good luck!
