Nice to meet you and Jazz! Cockatiels really are great little birds aren't they?

I'm sorry to hear about you having lost your last bird - your story is unfortunately very common. Have you thought about wing clipping to prevent that sort of thing from again? It's a hard thing...

I have two birds, Loki and Samson who are my third and fourth cockatiels. I manage to adopt birds or unknown ages and with medical issues, so I never really know how long they will last. In any case, they are great little pets.

Jazz is my second cockatiel, my first Jesse I had for 12 years. He escaped one day while I was at work and my kids were at home. My daughter let him out to play and my son and his friends kept coming in and out the house all day. When I got home Jesse was nowhere to be found. It was like losing one of my kids, I was devastated. It's been a couple of years now and I was ready for a new baby. :0)

I also have an eight month old granddaughter living with me, I went through and baby-proofed my home and checked for lead and other poisonous dangers and such in prep for her so I hope it's safe for both my babies..
