New here!

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site - I just found it tonight while browsing around on PetCo's site.

Growing up, my family always had dogs - my parents had a beagle when I was a kid, but he 'got lost' when we left him with my grandma for awhile. we then got a cocker spaniel (because I loved Lady and the Tramp when it was released and *had* to have one) but my mom had trouble trying to potty train me while trying to housebreak a dog that wouldn't learn, so we ended up giving her away to a family with a farm. Then we got a miniture fox terrier who was the runt of the litter (I picked her out) and she lived to be 14 yrs old. She died while I was off at college, after years of trachea problems and eventually a tumor. My parents and sister got another dog but I never considered it mine.

While in college, I got an apt with a classmate who really wanted to get a kitty, as cats seem to do better in apts than dogs. One of her friends had rescued a stray who was pregnant, so they let my roommate have one of the kittens. For the 3 years we lived together, the kitty was like my little buddy! 2 years after she got the first kitty, she came home with another from the local shelter, but that cat, who was only about a year old, did not get along with the other cat at all! We think his previous home was abused, as he needed a lot more attention than the other cat and often got annoying about it. After about 8 months, she returned him to the shelter.

When I moved out and into my new place with my husband, I missed not having a little furball around. Although we both would like to have a dog, we both agree that an apt is no place for the size dog we want, plus without a backyard, we don't have the time to constantly take one outside. Hubby was taking classes 3 days a week and working nights so I'd get lonely while he was gone and requested a kitty for Christmas.

2 weeks before Christmas I got my kitty! He saw an ad in the newspaper and she had her first shots already.

We named our new furbaby Tiger, due to her stripes and markings. He said she's a low shed kitty, but I can't figure out what breed she is for sure - she's got medium to long hair, and is mostly grey with a light orange/brown mixed color for her marks and tummy - one of her sisters was orange he said.

She hid under our endtables her first night here, but has definitely made herself at home now! Her favorite place to sleep is right behind our pillows on our flat headboard! She's currently 10 weeks old.
