Great for salt and fresh water
Pros: easy to install, handle and runs forever
Cons: not so easy to figure out if it's working or not...I mean...the light blinks randomly and all..wish ti was more of a pattern so I'd know if it went nuts that the thing is broken.

I had one of these heaters work for years on my fresh water tank...when I say years...I'm talking about from 2000 - 2006 when my daughter put soap in the fish tank killing everything. I threw out all contaminated equipment including the heater. I purchased another one of these heaters for my first salt water tank a few months ago...it works great...the tank stays a lovely 74 degrees and no flukes yet.
