Review Details

These pads serve as the last stage of filtering in the FluVal canister filters 105, 205, etc.

I use the 205 system to clear the water for a turtle habitat. The two turtles are getting to be pretty large, 6" and 8" so they produce a lot of waste. The filter system has the capacity needed to build up a lot of biomass which can then handle the waste load.

The filters are located in the second half of the flow path so this is the last chance at catching anything before it exits. The filter pads seem to catch / support more of the biomass than gets caught by the ceramic media.

The fillter pads can be cleaned when they get to be so loaded up so that they impede flow. You can wring them out by hand (YUCK) or press them with a hard object. However they can be reused through many cleanings. I expect they will last several years.
