Unsure about safety

Pros: Lasts a long time for heavy chewers
Cons: material hard to pass when swallowed
I am very stuck in the middle on these kongs. My dalmation growing up had one and he didn't seem to really care for it since he couldn't tear it up. It seemed like my parents bought it so that it would last longer and they wouldn't have to buy him as many toys, but I think this plan backfired because he never played with it.
-Also, I have never bought them for my dogs becuase I had to help with surgery on a schnauzer that chewed one up and a piece that was in his stomach would not pass (because of the heavy, bulky material) so we had to surgically remove it. Scary stuff...
