Hood connects with elastic loop and buttons (see photo below). Has a nice collar under hood for finished look even when hood is removed. Velcro closures at chest and belly keeps jacket secure. This is a great coat. It's attractive and warm. Unfortunately it doesn't come in larger sizes.
