As you move the QuickFinder; slowly toward the tip of the nail, the light will change to yellow (caution) and finally to green - safe to cut. The QuickFinder; Clipper is battery operated and includes two AAA batteries. Available for Small or Medium/Large breeds.

hard to detect quick at first and takes getting used to this but with practice it seems that it might be the answer for black nails.
