Review Details

The Trix tick remover (www.tickremover.com) is a simple little instrument you can use to quickly and safely remove ticks from your pet. It looks like a small pen with a loop at the end. When you find a tick on your pet, grab your trix, put the loop end around it, tighten the loop, twist and remove. There are photos of how to do it on their web site.

From their web site:

Early removal may reduce the risk of infection of some tick-borne diseases as Lyme disease. Ticks should never be crushed, squeezed or pulled out because this may force infective body fluids through the mouthparts and into the wound site. Do not apply substances such as petroleum jelly, finger nail polish, repellents and pesticides to the tick while it is attached. These materials might agitate the tick and cause it to regurgitate.
