I was having trouble with ticks "marching" into my classroom under the outside door. One vet suggested that I buy some peppermint oil and dilute it (I forget the formula, but you can find it on the net) and spray it beneath the door where the ticks were coming in. Wow. No more ticks. I had other people use the idea. I must say we had a nice smelling school after that. It did help with the tick problem. I am told that peppermint will also keep mice away too.
