The effectiveness of DAP seems to depend on the dog. I've had some foster dogs for whom the DAP in the diffuser was an absolute godsend; others didn't seem to respond as well. Nonetheless, this is an excellent step if you're trying to deal with dogs that have any kind of anxiety issues --- definitely better than going to medications.
