E-collars are a great product. I've used them for animals that have just had surgery and animals that have had some other special procedure done (hot spot clipped & cleaned, etc...). They are very effective against the animal harming itself by licking or biting an incision. Also, when I've clipped & cleaned a hot spot, some dogs would try and nibble or lick at the hot spot, so I put an e-collar on them. The only downside is it's difficult for some animals to eat or drink water with it on. Other than that, it's a great product!
