Supporting Shelter: City of Bloomington Animal Shelter/Monroe County Humane Association
Pros: Dispells myths about pit bulls
Cons: can't think of any
Check out a recent article in The Bark magazine about Diane Jessup's inspiring work, saving pit bulls from euthanasia at shelters around the country and training them to be K-9 police dogs. Some of these dogs were terribly abused or neglected and yet retained their helpful, hard-working, indomitably optimistic spirits. They have proven to be tenacious and smart police dogs, and are wonderful ambassadors for the breed in a world that has completely misunderstood and maligned pit bulls. Diane Jessup's book should be required reading for everyone, especially law enforcement officiers, who are called to homes with pit bulls and should have a complete understanding of the breed (they could be their fellows under better circumstances!) A BIG thank you to Diane Jessup for this important work, and for bringing it to a broad audience through her book.
