I would never, ever, EVER use an invisible fence, but especially one you can buy from a Do-It-Yourself store. These invisible fences MIGHT keep your dog in, but they keep nothing out - other dogs, mischievous children, wild, rabies-carrying animals, etc.... And they don't always keep your dog in. If the batteries in the collar die, then no beep or shock is provided. If there is a power failure, then the fence won't work. And many dogs just ignore the shock - and often very thick-coated dogs don't feel it. This kind of fencing is just too unreliable!
