Keeps our big lab from running the neighborhood and in the streets. We have the Pet Safe portable unit that sends a signal out and receives it back. Our dog has figured out when the batteries are going low though in the collar - and can break through. The batteries are proprietory, so its a bit inconvenient to replace quickly unless you have a stockpile somplace of the special battery. It keeps her home!!
