Our elderly dog Rusty will pee on the carpet under certain circumstances. To prevent it, we crate him when we're not at home, and use the gate to confine him to the TV room, or bedroom (depending on where I am) at night. Just shutting the door doesn't work ~ he just claws at the carpet and door. For some reason, using the gate works! We don't have the same problem during the day ~ it's only at night that we have a problem. I wish someone could tell us the "whys" of this situation! In any case, I would recommend use of this gate if you need to confine a dog to a certain room!
