We looked for a long time for a placemat that would keep our carpets dry. We have wall to wall carpeting and a dog that splashes as much water as he drinks so we were constantly trying in vain to keep the carpets clean and dry. We have been very happy with this mat. It is large enough to catch splashes (many mats just cover the immediate area under the food bowl), and it can be vacuumed and/or hosed down. The backside is rubber coated preventing water from soaking through to the carpet below. It can not be tipped like many trays, doesn’t need to be drained, and looks nice! The mat comes in many colors and can be personalized. This mat has certainly made our lives easier!
