Is there any other way?
Pros: the food stays fresh, the food smell stays in the can, no waste, easy to get on and off
Cons: none that I can think of

My mom's dog has been eating special canned food for a few years now, and these have been vital! Her food smells kind of foul, so it's especially important that the lids on the can keep the foul odor out of the rest of the refrigerator, which these do! I have never had a problem with these when I've been dog-sitting, and they seem more like a necessity than an optional item!
