Review Details
Except for the chicken fat they throw in, the food ingredients are all high-quality. Whole grains, natural chicken. (The chicken meal doesn't say "natural," though.)
But the five grains swamp the product's meat content. No corn or wheat, which are the grains that appear in most cheapo foods and seem to cause the most allergic responses in dogs.
But I avoid rice because there are too many contaminated sources for it. Natural Balance's dry foods were NOT found to be contaminated during the crisis, but I just don't want to run the risk. They're dependent on the manufacturer to buy from good sources.
In fact, I prefer not to feed grains at all. Dogs are carnivores and their systems have more trouble processing grains than meat.
But if you don't buy into that philosophy, this is great stuff.
