this is a good idea if you suspect your dog has a parasite and cannot get to the vet right away.
the results come back quickly ... which is good, but I think the best way to rule out a parasite is a fecal smear that the vet does or sends out to a lab.
this is good if you have a suspicion ... THEN, take your dog to the vet to make sure.
