Effective

Scalers are great if you know how to use them (I worked in dentistry in the past). It's nice to be able to clean the teeth without anesthesia, but you can end up with problems down the road if you are't getting under the gingiva properly. Also, you have to have a very tolerant animal, and if you don't know what you're doing, you could cut the gums.( andthen they wouldn't be tolerant again). I still have the vet give them a good check at their annual exam.
