Review Details

Some people think this collar is mean, but it is actually safer and more effective than the regular choke chain collars. This prong collar will never kill your dog, nor will it cause cuts or loss of fur a choke chain can cause with a dog that pulls repeatedly.

I used it in the beginning with my dog as she was out of control in the beginning. Now that she listens, we use a choke collar for training though a lot of it is off-leash work. She is really into the non-verbal communication and watches my gestures and movements closely.

I've seen a Jack Russell puppy with deep cuts and no fur around its neck because it just pulled like nuts all the time when leashed. The puppy just didn't care and kept pulling all the time. Finally she got this prong collar and like magic the dog stopped pulling, the cuts healed and the fur grew back. The dog finally settled down enough to listen and learn.

I fully recommend it if you can get it correctly sized for your dog. It can be difficult to put on if you get the larger prongs, as it is hard to squeeze together. I have found that even the smallest prongs work with the biggest dogs, or you can get the collar that has the easy snap part, so you don't have the struggle with the prongs so much.
