Pros: Can be a very useful tool if you can get over the initial learning curve
Cons: Difficult to figure out how to put on at first, Hard to get my dog to wear it
My neighbor uses gentle leaders for both of her dogs; and since they are so well behaved when we walk to the park, I thought I would give it a try. Initially, I had a difficult time figuring out how it went on my dog. It took me a few minutes, but once you get the hang of it, it will be second nature. Unfortunately, my dog and I play this game where I put my hair scrunchy on her muzzle and she paws it off and runs off with my scrunchy. She knows how to get something off of her muzzle including the gentle leader. Despite taking short trips around the block with my dog in the gentle leader and treats to distract her from taking it off, she still manages to stop and paw it off her nose. I've given up. We are back to the regular leash, but I encourage the rest of you to try it because it can do wonders if you stick with the training.
