I got a pink one for my Giant schnauzer girl but it's too big for her yet. So I tested it out on Atlas.
I don't like the way the handle edges stick out of the collar, it's too easy for a dog to snag himself on something or another dog to grab hold of it. So, I wouldn't trust leaving my dog alone with this collar on-- wouldn't want him to choke himself. And I wouldn't leave him with another rowdy dog around-- it would be too easy for a mouthy dog to pull on the other dog's leash. Forget using it at the dog park, it would be too easy for a dog to grab it and try to pull your dog around. It would be possible to use it while taking the dog for a walk, but a regular leash would work much better. The one instance it would be beneficial is if you're walking your dog off-leash and need to grab them quickly-- just for a minute or two. Of course, you could do that with a regular collar!
As for the design, I've never seen a collar that was so thick and well-padded. When I put it on Atlas and pulled on the handle, he instantly "freaked out" and pulled his head back out of the collar. I tightened it and tried again, and he again freaked out by the sensation of the elastic tightening around his neck. (Mind you, this dog normally wears a prong collar when we go anywhere!) Maybe they get used to it. Maybe not.
