Hunters and their dogs have long used these orange vests for safety reasons. They are also good for walking your dog at night since they are reflective and can be seen under street lights or by passing vehicle headlights.

We purchased this as we have a farm as a vacation home. There are usually hunters in the fall. Our dog is black so in the country with no street lights its very hard to see her. Also it protects her as the orange is a signal for not shooting. It also have reflective yellow tape on it. Also is water resistant so helps on walks to potty if raining. She doesn't mind wearing it. Its better to be safe then sorry. Very easy to clean as well.
