Works great for puppies.

I learned this trick years ago and it still works today -- if you can find still find this type of clock. Just take the two-bell wind-up alarm clock, wind it, wrap it in a towel and to a puppy, it sounds like the beating of their mothers' heart. Very calming to them, they'll snuggle right up to it and fall asleep.
