Catnip + crackly sound = drives cat crazy!
Pros: does a good job engaging cat in activity/play
Cons: they can get dirty quickly, and you can't wash them

My cat is *not* easily impressed with toys. Most of the time, she'll bat something around the room a bit, and then walks away, leaving it there, or under the couch. My boyfriend picked up one of these catnip cracklers for her (the ladybug), saying that he's known cats that have gone nuts for them.
Well, she took to it right away, squeezing and hugging it to make the crackly noise, biting it, and playing "bug hockey" with it all over the living room. She's very responsive to the catnip, too.
In addition to the ladybug, she also has the bee, and the chipmunk (the chipmunk has a heart-shaped tattoo on his chest that says "NUTS", you gotta love that!). We just picked up a new fish, and another fish with a worm attached to it with a cord for the new kitty we are adopting today :)
Nicely engineered with very creative, fun designs. Highly recommend!
