All our cats have liked the scratching posts. We have two, one for our home and one for our cottage. They are placed near windows and the tops are welcome spots for sun sleeping.
The fur toy, hanging in our home scratch post, has not stood up to our determined males and is now a toss toy.
They make a great attack area also, one will be the "king of the mountain" and the other tries to take over. Hours of laughter for their humans to watch.
Yes, they do use them as scratching posts!
