Perfect, but you have to follow directions

Pros: You will use so much LESS litter when combined with the Feline Pine logs (not Scooping).

Cons: A little ugly...and wish it had a cover...and wish the used litter recepticle were deeper.

Review Details

I used to use Feline Pine regular in a regular litter pan. The cat peed on the logs, the wet logs disentegrated, and you tried to scoop out the wet dust...while throwing away perfectly good unused logs. I used to go thru a small bag a week with one cat.

Then I bought the Self-Cleaning litter box. First I looked at the other "sifting" boxes at the store. Their sifter holes were too big (allowing clean logs to fall thru) or too small (not allowing the wettened dust to fall thru. The Self-Cleaning box is best.

So you fill a layer, about 1 inch deep. The cat pees just as above. Except now you just STIR the logs once a day, and the wet dust falls thru the holes to the pan below. The clean logs stay above. Of course, you scoop out the poop and flush it once a day.

I clean out the bottom tray twice a week. Don't be surprised....the bottom tray will be filled with wet dust...but it doesnt stink...as long as I empty it twice a week. Not sure, but it might stink after a whole week.

An added plus, is that the clean logs on top, forms a barrier over the sifting holes, thus keeping in any stink that might be there to escape.

People who don't like it, arent reading the directions and aren't using it right. I don't even put some clean logs in the bottom to soak up pee, as the directions suggest. There's no need if you have enough logs in the top for the pee to flow thru. Expect the bottom tray to have WET dust in it....it's been peed on for goodness sakes!

Now, instead of one small bag a week...I buy, like one small bag a month, maybe less! The top tray is always dry and clean...as long as I stir it once a day to help the wettened dust fall thru the holes. It's perfect for those who follow the directions.

PS...you don't use the Scoopable feline pine in this!!! Only the logs... (regular)
