Pros: Offers cats a safer way to be outdoors; supposedly "escape-proof"

Cons: Doesn't protect cats from parasites or other hazards that may be in the yard; Questionable strength/durability of fence

I had seen advertisements for a fence similar to this (escape-proof with a tilted top) a LONG time ago and thought it was an interesting concept and definitely a product worthy of attention. I still feel this way, but personally see less of a need for it now that I have a large screened porch which keeps out most parasites (e.g., fleas, ticks) and gives me greater peace of mind.

The information packet does contain a lot of valuable information about the benefits of the fence and contains a small section of the fence so that one can feel its flexibility/durability. I thought the fence felt flimsy, but once I watched the DVD, I realized that the flexibility is intentional as a way to make the fence wobbly and a cat more likely to fall off IF it attempts to climb it.

Although this is advertised as an "information packet", I was disappointed that the DVD did not show much about the actual installation of the fence--this was the area I had the most questions, yet they weren't answered in the DVD. I got (and still get) the impression that one may TRY self-installation, but that this would be a BIG job and one that would be better left to professionals.

In the DVD, a fence was shown that attached to a backyard garage/building. I thought this provided a way for some animals--including one's cats--to have a way of "beating" the fencing system and making it less effective.

Finally, I think this is a good idea, but also believe that "indoor" cats can be content. Anyone who would like their cats to experience the outdoors in a "safe" way can either build a screened porch or install one of these fences.
