Doesn't anyone else have problems cleaning this??

I guess these come in differenct sizes and the bigger ones have a lid on the top that comes off. I have a little one for our cats in the garage. It has a bottle neck sized opening to fill and try to clean the inside through. I have had green slime building up inside mine for years and could never find a brush that could really get at it. And then someone suggested I use some rock salt and and vinegar and swish it around inside. It took everything off and made it as clean as the day I bought it! Like a miracle. Surely someone else out there can use this info too!
