Pros: Best price, great taste, very healthy
Cons: Driving to Costco
In 2003, my husband and I moved with our four cats to Florida. We started seeing a feline specialist for them. At my first visit, she took a basic history and asked about their eating habits, specifically what kind of food I fed them. I said our cats love the Kirkland brand of food and their coats are so shiny since then. I also mentioned that my husband had fed the cats Science Diet before, but this seemed to work just as well, with the extra benefit, of a shinier coat, and at a better price. My feline specialist immediately launched into a lecture about how I needed to feed the cats a premium food. Standing my ground, I asked what determined a premium food. My specialist gave me a list of questions to ask to determine if the food was "any better than shoe leather." I thought it was the worth the over $20 per bag to investigate, so I called the number on the bag. The wonderful customer service rep was able to answer my questions or get someone who could. Turned out, "Costco crunchies" passed the test with flying colors. I reported back to our specialist, who was pleased with the results and research.
We now have six cats, all adults, ages 3-13, two with sensitive tummies. They all love the food. It is also inexpensive enough to feed the outdoor feral cats in our alley.
