Review Details

No matter what brand you use, you need to get the technique down pat to brush your cat's teeth with any kind of effectiveness. For us it means holding 'em down on a flat countertop where they can't get a grip, and firmly tilting their heads back and prying their jaws open just like pill popping. Quick 'n' dirty. This is not going to be that America's Funniest Home Videos submission we've all seen, where the woman is calmly FLOSSING her cat's teeth. That does not happen in real life. Face it, your cat is NOT going to like it but you love your cat and will do what is for his/her own good. When we first started (on two of our adult cats) we had this kit from the vet. It was $9. The toothbrush is crap; go buy baby toothbrushes from the drugstore. We have tried three brands: CET, in chicken flavor; Petrodent, in malt flavor; and 4 Paws, in "original" flavor (that smells like vanilla frosting.) None of my babies think any of these three is a treat. The CET smelled the most cat-friendly to me but $9 for a trial kit is ridiculous.
