A little boring, and i LOVE to read

I absolutely love to read and have read some great books about dogs...unfortunately, this wasn't one of them. I just couldn't connect with the author. I also disagreed with a lot of his statements and felt that he was a bit condescending in his attitude toward people who believe that you should adopt, not shop. I think that there's a huge problem with homeless dogs and that people should always adopt from a shelter rather than encourage people to breed more dogs by buying from a breeder.
I also got the impression at times that he thought of animals as commodities rather than pets, which could come from his life as a farmer who sells animals for a living.
I just couldn't get into this book, which was disappointing b/c I was really looking forward to it.
