This is a lovely book, the photography is stunning and captures the dogs personalities and emotions. My only argument is at the back there is a bio and each dog in the book has been adopted and is in a home. Since this book was photogrphed at a no-kill shelter that was possible. If the author had really wanted to paint a more accurate picture of the average shelter dog, less than half would have had happy endings. I know many people who choose to give up dogs like to delude themselves into believing that the dog they are dropping off at the shelter will "Find a good home" so they can walk away feeling good about themselves, sadly in most parts of the country, and in most shelters that is not the reality for the majority of animals surrendered. I really like this book but the voice in the back of my head makes me wonder if by only showing happy endings, if we are not enabling the mentality that says "I can just walk away form my pet and someone else will take care of him" when so often ther is not a willing adopter to take on the 14 year old dog with seizures, or the unsocialized animal that has become aggressive.
