Walt Disney World

My sister in law works for Disney so we stay over there alot. I have boarded my dog, Butch at several of the kennels there including the one at Fort Wilderness, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood studios. None of these kennels are full service so you are required to walk your dog twice a day. This does prove to be inconvenient at times but even when the kennels are closed they have phones outside that you can contact security and they will let you in at night to walk your dog. Waiting for the security is inconvenient. You can board your dog at a full service facility as they have two on the Disney property currently and you can still visit when you want but are not required. It is also very inconvenient that the kennels are not located at the majority of hotels and you have to drive or take the bus to the parks to walk your dog. I did find all the facilities to be clean and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The fort wilderness kennel was much bigger than the others and had more room to walk your dog but I waited longer for the security there because they have to drive up to the kennel located at the entrance and Fort Wilderness is very spread out. Hollywood studios has just a small path to walk your dog so if more than two people are walking their dogs at the same time the trail is congested. I did not like this because my Butch is not fond of other animals. Also, Hollywood studios path is along the entrance walk way and is not fenced. If your dog gets away from you he can run right into the parking lot to be hit by a giant bus. Animal Kingdom Kennels had a small walking area as well but at least their area is fenced so if the dog got away from you he couldn't run out in the parking lot and be hit by a car. Next time I am going to try the full service kennels and see how Butch likes those. Overall i was satisfied with the kennels staff and cleanliness even if I had to wait for security longer than I wanted.

Cons: close early and you have to get security to let you in to kennel at night, not all kennels are full service, kennels are not always close to hotel

Years ago we decide to drive to Florida to take our dog to the national specialty. We stayed 2 nights at Disney on the way. Had to board the dog in their facility which was nice but incovenient. At that time the owners had to come back to feed their dogs and take them outside to be exercised if the dogs would not use the concrete runs. Then you had to make sure you were there by 8pm before they closed for the night if you wanted to make sure your dog relieved himself before bed time. Would not do this again.
