The facilities at Marta's are very attractive, and yes, when you pick your dogs up they have been bathed and are wearing a cute bandanna. But Marta's is far too discriminating when it comes to dogs with medical conditions. If your dog encounters ANY medical problem between the time you make your reservation and the time you drop your dog off, you have to call and report it to Marta's. Several times my vacation hung in the balance because I was waiting to find out if Marta's would keep my dogs because they were on some medicine or another. It was really ridiculous. On the most extreme occasion, one of my dogs had hurt her leg running around at home, so she was on prednisone. When I went to Marta's to drop my dogs off before my vacation, they told me my dog was on "too many medicines" and would have to see the vet next door. They are affiliated with a Eastern/Western vet, and it seemed like they were not going to be willing to board my dogs unless I would start going to their vet. Fortunately, the vet talked some sense into the kennel staff, but not before I was delayed over an hour leaving for my vacation. It is a kennel's job to board your dog and to give whatever medicines your dog is taking. It is not their job to give medical advice. They won't even board one of my dogs anymore because she has Cushing's disease. Any kennel who takes the time to understand this disease realizes that there is no reason for a dog with this disease to be shunned. I now take my dogs elsewhere because Marta's is far too unreliable as far as the veterinary issues. Be ready to be making last minute boarding arrangements for your dog!
Pros: convenient location
Cons: too discriminating
