I get this and also a more finer grit and mix them together. I have found that this one is a bit more coarse. I sometimes grind it up a bit with a mortar and pestle, especially when we have young birds that are in the weaning process.
The grit also helps them digest the seeds that they eat. However, my vet has told me that grit is not necessary as the seed often contains enough dirt and other particles that act to help digest the food.
Regardless, I still provide this to my birds as I feel they would eat it if they wanted to, much like the mineral block and other non-seed treats I give them.
