Review Details

I bought this back when we had tons of birds, but I found that I prefer to use a human nail clipper to trim sharp toenails of the birds. For me, it is just easier to manipulate the clippers than the scissors. Also, I feel that the nail clippers are less likely to cause damage elsewhere, like you might cut off something else if the bird struggles.

I think making it a two person job is a lot easier. One person can hold the bird, while the other clips. It also depends on the bird. Several of my birds will allow me to clip their claws while balancing on my other hand on one foot. The other birds are quite wild and will struggle and bite me a lot.

Overall, I think it is an okay tool to use, but you can save money by using your own nail clippers. I also file it down a little to get rid of the sharp edges. Don't forget to clean and disinfect the clippers if you are using it for yourself too. I have several so the bird one is dedicated solely for their use.
