Flight suits silly at first look, genius at the second.
Pros: When visiting other people, there is no mess and the bird becomes welcome and loved.
Cons: It takes patience and time to get a bird to accept the suit, but now he loves it.

A flight suit is a harness that goes on pet birds. It has an extended pouch under the butt that poop drops into. For easy cleaning and so the poop doesn't go on your shirt, a flight liner that looks like a cosmetic eye pad, is placed into the pouch before you put the suit on the bird. This needs to be replaced every 3 hours, generally. The poop does touch the bird, it drops into the pouch. It needs to be changed so it doesn't get too full, or it would touch the bird. The liners are very cheap, and the flight suits are reasonable as well.
I tell people I have a diaper for my Meyers Parrot, and they laugh, and imagine a bird wearing a baby diaper. However once they see it on the bird, they are happily shocked. Rule of thumb is to buy a suit that is close to the same color of your bird, therefore people don't even notice it until I point it out.
My bird, Derby, picked at the suit heavily the first week, the second week was better, and now he doesn't even react to the suit. I spent alot of time using positive reinforcement training, and it was worth is.
Not only is the flight suit a diaper, but it has a place to attach a lanyard (leash) and it works great on walks or while driving in the car. I travel alot and this has been a godsend.
The customer service at www.flightquarters.com is great. I had to call 3x, because I was over worried, and the owner spent the time to reassure me that everything was normal. She also gave me fantastic ideas how to get the bird used to the suit. I am so glad we stuck with it. Meyers Parrots live for 30 years and I would hate to my bird locked in the cage rather than being able to be a part of our life. Friends and family let us bring Derby over because we are diligent pet owners that don't allow our animals destroy other peoples property and we pick up after them.
It is worth it, I promise!
