Review Details

I used to work for an avian vet, so experience has taught me that quaker parrots and conures (of all kinds) in particular love this product. So when I adopted my quaker, I decided to try this out with him. He is a typical quaker and LOVES his Happy Hut. He sleeps in it every night, and will run to it when he's scared and needs a place to hide.

He will soil it every now and then, but wiping it out with a washrag has been easy enough. However - Just like with anything - It should be given a good cleaning every now and then. This is where I've had problems with the bottom of it. After a few washes in the washing machine, the plastic insert in the bottom became curved and no longer provided a flat surface. I took care of this problem by cutting a slot in the bottom with a scissors and pulling out the plastic insert. Then I took a pillowcase and used an iron to straighten the insert to its original shape. Now when I wash it, I remove the insert beforehand so I don't run into that problem again.

My bird also took no time to chew up the fabric loops that attached the top to the C-Clamps. The Hut was at the bottom of the cage within two days. I just hang it up with plastic clothespins, and my parrot is fine with this. I actually prefer it this way because it's not hanging as low in the cage and he has more room to move about on the perch below the Hut.
