Review Details
I'm a serious birder. Now that doesn't mean I go to Alaska and the Faulkland Islands. But I do take vacations to birding spots in the US and camp/birdwatch. So I'm familiar with pretty much all the top field guides. Kaufman's guide is a good addition to a wonderful set of field guides to birds. I have about a half dozen or so from the Petersons and the Nat'l Geographics to the Sibleys and Kaufmans. I find having more than one works best. I can't tell you how many times I've IDed a bird from a second or third guide when the first one(s) just didn't make me sure.
Now if you're just enjoying the birds at the feeder in the yard, Kaufman's or any of the others will do just fine. But the art work of the Sibley set released during the last decade is hard to beat. This shows what a man can do with his talent and time if he cares enough. So I guess I like almost all the the guides including this one.
