recently i lost two mice. one i had for about a year and one for about a month. was this natural for them to die so soon? also, should i get a new pet soon?

I have a 10 week old giunea that I thought was a girl,well....not.Now I have two girls that are over two and I dont want to deal with the situation of pregnancy ,never mind with complications.
